This is series of paintings, Around Here, is a work in progress by the artist of twelve paintings to be completed in twelve months during 2022. The paintings are acrylic on canvas, with dimensions of 24" x 36" x 2 5/8". The subject matter is based off the artist's nearby surroundings and include landscapes typical of her photographic work. She works with homemade charcoal from madrona, butterfly bush, and curly-willow to build her compositions, then builds the form with gesso. After the compositions begin to take shape, she incorporates color that is informed by the natural world.
